Materials:
- Non-toxic paint
- Medium-sized smooth rocks (either found or from your local craft store)
- Paintbrush
- Glue stick
- Googly eyes
Step 1: Gather all your materials at your craft station.
Step 2: Paint each of your rocks a different color for variety and fun. Our rocks were dark so we used three layers of paint, letting each rock dry for 15 minutes before putting on the final coat.
Step 3: Place the eyes—one, two or even three!—wherever you see fit. Once you’ve decided, take your glue stick and apply some glue to the back of each eye, then stick them in place.
Step 4: Using a steady hand, paint a monster mouth on each of your rocks in whatever way you see it in your imagination! Feel free to copy these expressions or make up your own. We think toothy grins look adorable!
And you’re all done! Step back and admire your new Pet Monster Rocks! Set them up around the house, stage a Broadway “rock” show, or use them like puppets—how you use your little monsters is up to your little one! These colorful little pals will brighten up your day and provide some quality time spent crafting with your kids.
