WHAT YOU NEED
- Room with lots of floor space. Living room or family room might work best.
- Large sheets of yellow, white and black construction paper (If you use 8-1/2-inches x 11-inches size, you will have to tape or glue them together)
- Large blanket or table cloth
- CD or tape of Summer music and player
- Shorts, sunglasses and sandals
- Picnic meal in basket
- Paper plates and napkins for everyone
- Cellophane tape or string
- Plastic trash bag
HOW TO DO IT
- Cut a big, funny sun out of yellow construction paper and hang it from the ceiling or on the wall. Cut a few white, puffy paper clouds and hang them from the ceiling, too. Use tape or string to attach.
- Spread a large blanket on the floor.
- Using the shape of the number “8”, cut some ants out of black construction paper and scatter them around the edges of the blanket.
- Play beach music. Have everyone change into shorts and sandals. Of course, they’ll need sunglasses.
- Make sandwiches and snacks, Juicy Juice™ and cookies. Neatly pack in picnic basket.
- Arrange paper plates and napkins on the blanket and serve lunch.
- Remind your picnic guests not to litter. Pass around a plastic bag for trash.
- Lie on the blanket on your backs, counting clouds and brushing away the ants.
