In movies and television, Valentine’s Day is all about romantic love.
But in your home, Valentine’s Day can be about the love of your family.
Start some family Valentine’s Day traditions this year.
“The old-fashioned things, the things that don’t cost a dime and come straight from the heart, are the things that make memories,” says Michele Borba, Ed.D. “Anything you do that makes children feel loved and connected and gives them a sense of belonging will help bring a family together.”
Here are some ideas:
- Hang one heart-shaped magnet for each family member on the refrigerator and leave love notes for each other under them.
- Make valentines for grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
- Conspire with your children to do something nice for your spouse on Valentine’s Day. Whether it’s planning a special meal or preparing a bubble bath, children will love making a secret plan.
- End the day with a special candlelit meal followed by a delicious Valentine’s Day chocolate dessert.
